THE CELESTIAL

'The Celestial' is an experimental project, the goal was to create a hybrid dining space. The chosen site location Mount Victoria, peaks at 87 metres above sea level. I began by experimenting with a range of ideas but concluded with a hybrid space between both evening dining and an observatory to take advantage of the site's elevation and location.

I wanted the design to have a futuristic/ modern aesthetic, so I researched and studied a range of photographs of satellites and shuttle designs. There were recurring materials across the designs of these devices, glossy black, bronzed-metallics such as copper, and changing lights.
